Stand Up Puppets: Getting the Giggles
A workshop series co-ordinated by Jenny Ellis at ArtPlay, a dedicated Art Centre for children run by the City of Melbourne. The project coincided with the 2010 Melbourne Comedy Festival, and involved improvisational comic Daniel Cordeaux (from the television show "Thank God you’re here"). Each child made their own muppet-style puppet character and learnt how to make this character come alive. They also were introduced to the skills of comedy improvisation and worked together as a group to produce a short comedy puppet film. This film was shown on the big screen at Federation Square as part of the 2010 Puppets @ Fed Square festival. Through a grant from the City of Melbourne this workshop was made available free to disadvantaged children.
